According to Wikipedia Telehealth refers to the use of telecommunications and information technology in the provision of medical consultation services whenever a large physical distance exists between patient and a medical provider (doctors, nurses etc.). It has many points of contacts with other medical and non-medical applications, such astelediagnosis, teleconsultation, telemonitoring, etc.
In recent years, though, telehealth is becoming another choice for consumers when it comes to their routine medical care. Primary reasons for this are the high cost of traditional healthcare options along with the fact that many people are having to move to private high deductible insurance plans or lose health insurance benefits all together as they lose their jobs or as employers cut back on health insurance. Telehealth offers an affordable medical care option. Read more at Telehealth@Wiki.
