a. Keep a diary of headaches, it will help you identify the triggers.
b. Avoid food triggers. Caffeine, Alcohol, dark wine, fermented food, processed meat can trigger. If you can identify what is it for you than it is easier to avoid that food item, than to suffer from migraines.
c. Avoid loud noises and light.
d. For women hormones plays a major role, migraines can come more frequently around menstrual cycle. Keeping an eye on trigger is well worth a try. Sometimes switching birth control pills can reduce severity and frequency as well.
e. Keep yourself hydrated, sleep regular hours, avoid stress and live an active life.
f. Supplements can help a lot. Magnesium, Vitamin B2, fish oil is good for preventing migraines.
g. Tying a tight band around your head will help in the headache as well.
h. Hot or cold compress works.
h. Peppermint oil rub or fragrance will calm the headache down.
i. Chewing on ginger or ginger candy, ginger ale helps with nausea which in turn helps with the actual headache.
